Day 01 U.S.A. --> Beijing

Depart from U.S.A. to China's Capital -- Beijing.  Cross the International Date Line en route and lose one day.

 

Day 02 Beijing

Arrive in Beijing, the dynamic capital of the People's Republic of China.  Once the imperial city of Mongol, Ming, and Manchu emperors, Beijing today is still extraordinarily rich in historical sites and cultural relics.  After clearing government formalities, meet your local guide and transfer to your hotel.

Day 03 Beijing (HB, L, D)

This morning, walk in Tian'amen Square, the largest public square in the world and visit the Imperial Palace (Gugong), the once Forbidden City, with its over 9,000 elaborately carved and colorfully painted rooms, gardens, theaters, temples, and exhibition galleries that was the home of China's emperors for almost 500 years, a testament of imperial China's splendor and lavishness.  In the afternoon, visit the Summer Place. Tonight, enjoy the world renowned Peking Duck Feast.

Day 04 Beijing (HB, L, D)

Today, visit what could be considered as one of the greatest wonders of the world, the greatest fortification in human history built to prevent invasion by foreign barbarians -- the magnificent Great Wall of China.  It is the only human construction that astronauts could recognize with the naked eye.  Walk on this "wall of 10,000 miles" which took 10 years and more than a million laborers to build, and look out from the highest point, at the fort at Bada Hill, from were enemy attacks were signaled to the capital by beacon fires.  In the afternoon, visit the Imperial tombs of the Ming Dynasty, where thirteen of the sixteen Ming emperors were buried.  Tonight, attend an amazing acrobatic show.

Day 05 Beijing -->Xi'an (HB, L, D)

This morning, visit the magnificent Temple of Heaven, where Ming and Qing emperors prayed to heaven for a good harvest.  Then, fly to the ancient capital of 11 dynasties of China Chang'an (now Xi'an), rich in historical sites.  During the Tang Dynasty, Chang'an was the largest city of the world, the starting point of the Silk Road.  Imperial Dumpling "Banquet Dinner is served tonight.

Day 06 Xi'an (HB, L, D)

Day 07 Xi'an --> Guilin (HB, L, D) 

Today, shore excursion is to Yueyang, a celebrated ancient city of culture on the east of Dongting Lake.  Visit the Dongting Lake and Yueyang Tower, gleaming with golden tile

Day 08 Guilin (HB, L, D)

Today's shore excursion is to Yueyang, a celebrated ancient city of culture on the east of Dongting Lake.  Visit the Dongting Lake and Yueyang Tower, gleaming with golden title.

Day 09 Guilin --> Hangzhou (HB, L, D)

Today, visit the Three Gorges Dam Construction Site.  When completed in 2009, it will be the world's largest hydroelectric project.  Then, cruise through Xiling Gorge, the most scenic of all the gorges, and Wu Gorge, known for its deep valley and quiet beauty.

Day 10 Hangzhou --> Suzhou --> Wuxi (HB, L, D)

Today, travel to "the Venice of China" -- Suzhou and visit the Hanshan Temple, Tiger Hill, Garden of Master of Nets and the Silk Embroidery Research Institute.  In the afternoon, travel to Wuxi,  where the cultivation of mulberry trees and silk worms has existed for almost 1,500 years.

Day 11 Wuxi --> Shanghai (HB, L, D)

This morning, visit Tai Hu, the third largest lake in China and subject of many poems.  Then, visit Xihui Park.  Go back to Shanghai in the afternoon.

Hotel: Renaissance Yangtze or a hotel of equivalent standard

 

Day 12 Shanghai (HB, L, D)

This morning visit the 16th century Garden of Joy (Yu Garden) with its zigzagging bridges and Jade Buddha Temple.  Free time in the afternoon.

Day 13 Shanghai --> U.S.A. (HB)

Today, transfer to airport for the flight back to your lovely home.
